Keep as many rights as possible because reselling your rights multiplies your income and frees your time to write new articles and do your marketing. I'm assuming since you said "article" that you're referring to non-fiction. Remember that only 5% or so of all authors earn a living at it. Get a copy of Writers Market 2007 and scan the magazine section in the back. Maybe some of them are looking for your type of material.
