Look into magazines, online publications and other medias that you like to read. Ask for their writer's guidelines (for online publications you can find them online normally). Then get to writing and submitting. I should also add that many, but not all, publications accept submissions/queries via e-mail. Very convenient, but you still have to be very professional. Join a writers forum. Also helpful. Also, if you are going to submit via e-mail which is likely, you want a somewhat professional e-mail address. It can be free, from yahoo or hotmail etc, but using a name like "hotdude" or "soccergal" shows how unprofessional you are. You don't have to use your full name, but you can.
